TIPS

Protection Advice

BOOKS
Should be packed flat so that the spines won’t break in smaller boxes. Never pack fragile items with books.
APPLIANCES
Fridges, freezers and other white goods should be thoroughly defrosted, dry and clean before storing. Always move and store your Fridge in the upright position. Laying a fridge on its side could damage it. Leave open the doors of appliances to prevent mildew. You can store lighter items such as linens inside. A deodoriser placed inside fridges or freezers is also a good idea to maintain freshness.
FURNITURE
Protect the shelves and structure of your furniture by emptying wardrobes, cupboards and drawers while moving. Clothing and personal goods should be packed in strong secure cartons. Refill when in storage.
MOWERS & MACHINERY
Completely drain all fuel. This will reduce the risk of leakage, spillage and damage to other goods in your space. Petrol and oil left in machinery are a fire hazard. Place on a board or plastic sheet in case of leakage.
COMPUTERS
If possible, use original cartons for packing. They have been designed to protect the computer whilst in transit. Otherwise, wrap the computer in bubble wrap and place inside a strong cardboard carton. If unsure, read the manufacturers manual for advice.
PICTURE FRAMES, MIRRORS, WINDOWS & PAINTINGS
Wrap framed art and mirrors in bubble wrap and stand them upright. Glassware & Tableware Individual pack all fragile items in packing paper (tissue paper) and stand all cups on their edges. Any extra space inside the carton should be filled (scrunching paper). Label the outside of the carton fragile.
